Divorce Records Indiana Free List Online

By Ben Kingsley

Divorce files are the only files that prove that a marriage is no longer in effect. They are usually stored at a state's Vital Records office along with other public files. But in the case of Indiana Divorce Records, they can only be obtained at the county Clerk of Court where it was granted.

Any person has the right to access the records upon request because they are deemed as public records. However, not everything that is in the record is provided to the general public because the couple still has right to keep private some matters regarding their divorce. Only the husband and wife, their legal representatives, and other groups or individuals specified by the court can group the complete divorce record. If you are not authorized, you can still view the records but will only be provided with a copy that will reveal if a divorce has been validated by the court or not.

You can only apply for a divorce in a certain state if you have lived there for at least a year. Once the application is accepted and the whole process is done, the finalized file becomes an accepted legal divorce file no matter which state you are at. If you have gone through a divorce in the past and you have moved on and want to enter into another marriage, you have to show your divorce file. A license is required in marriage and a divorced person will not be given one without the finalized divorce file. And if you want to collect some assets or properties that you have from your past marriage, you can use the divorce files to make a claim.

If you want to request for the files but do not have any knowledge of which specific county they are stored, you can submit your request form at the Indiana Department of Health. The department can find the county - where the files are stored - for you. You can get a request form at the Department of Health, or, if you know the specific county Clerk of Court, you can also get one from there. You may also secure the form online by downloading it from the official website of the department or of the county Clerk of Court. Supply the required fields of the form and send it personally or through traditional mail. There are certain fees rendered for each type of request.

In the past few years, public records have become available online, including divorce records. There are several service providers that are authorized by the court to provide them to the public upon request. With multiple service providers to choose from, it is important that you do a history check on them first before actually availing their services. Although, most of them are genuine, it is inevitable that there are fake ones as well.

Divorce Records Are Public documents and they can be retrieved from the Internet without any hassle. They are websites that offer the documents and do not render any kind of payment while there are others that render corresponding fees. Both types of websites can provide you with vital pieces of information which include the names of the couple, the date they were each born, date and location where the divorce was made official, and more. You can commence a search by supplying the full name of a certain person whose divorce documents you want to retrieve.
